A Ten-Day Wildlife, Culture & Adventure Experience in the Kigezi Highlands

10 Days

For travelers who want a deeper immersion into Uganda’s wild beauty, culture, and people, Focaccia
Tours has designed a ten-day journey that weaves through forests, lakes, mountains, and cultural
encounters. Guests arrive at Entebbe International Airport and are swiftly transferred to our domestic
flights into Kihihi Airstrip, dramatically reducing road travel time. The journey begins in Bwindi
Impenetrable Forest, home to half the world’s surviving mountain gorillas.
Two full days are dedicated to gorilla tracking, allowing guests a chance to track two different gorilla
families, each with unique social dynamics. Afternoons are spent in cultural exchange with the Batwa
communities, traditional forest dwellers whose songs, dances, and storytelling breathe life into the
ancient forest.
The adventure continues with hikes along the ridges of Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda’s most scenic lake.
Guests canoe across its emerald waters, stopping at islands with fascinating histories. Days six and seven
are dedicated to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where our luxury safari lodges provide front-row views
of elephants, lions, and buffalo grazing against the backdrop of the Rwenzori Mountains. A special
highlight is the Kazinga Channel boat cruise, offering spectacular sightings of hippos and crocodiles
basking in the sun.
The final leg includes golden monkey tracking in Mgahinga National Park, combined with a cultural
trail that introduces the traditions of the Kigezi highland farmers. Guests depart from Kihihi airstrip,
enriched with the memories of ten days that felt like a month of discovery.
